AI Filmmaking & Generative Video

I studied generative AI filmmaking at NYU Tisch School of the Arts as part of the MPS in Virtual Production program, where Runway’s AI video tools were integrated into coursework at the Martin Scorsese Virtual Production Center.
Through hands-on projects and thesis development, I explored how AI can be used for concept development, previsualization, and experimental storytelling, under the guidance of faculty working closely with emerging AI filmmaking pipelines.

Born from code and sea foam

For the mermaid doll commercial, I used Weave AI as a creative playground to design and evolve the character quickly while keeping her instantly recognizable. The goal was to treat the mermaid like a real product character: cute, collectible, and consistent, not just a one-off AI image.

I chose Weave AI because it makes iteration feel fast and fun, while still giving enough control to guide the look and personality of the character. Instead of generating random results, I used Weave to explore variations in expression, styling, and mood, curating the outputs the way a creative team would build a brand character.

What I love about Weave AI is how well it fits short-form, internet-native workflows. It allowed me to move quickly from idea to visuals, test what felt playful or eye-catching, and then push the strongest results into animation, compositing, and final edits. In this project, AI wasn’t the final product. It was the creative tool that made experimentation faster and more exciting.
